Fort Negley Park in Nashville holds significant historical and cultural importance, representing the city’s evolution and the nation’s turbulent past. The master plan acknowledges the complexity of the site and aims to interpret it truthfully and beautifully while adhering to three guiding principles: preservation, honoring history, and engaging the public. Currently, the park falls short of these principles due to inadequate maintenance, incomplete historical interpretation, and a lack of community engagement, but the plan proposes a strategy of rehabilitation through reinvestment, remembrance, and reconnection to address these issues and fulfill its guiding principles.
